Submit Your Abstract!
The Federation of Medical Women of Canada (FMWC) is now accepting abstract submissions for in-person poster presentations during our annual general meeting and educational conference taking place September 17-19, 2026 at the Westin Edmonton, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Who is Eligible:
- Medical students, resident physicians and physicians (in practice/retired) who are currently members of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada (FMWC) or Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA). Submissions will NOT be considered if the submitting author is not a member of the FMWC or MWIA. (To join FMWC, go to fmwc.ca).
Submission Deadline:
- Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM EDT
- Note: Authors will be informed of abstract status by Thursday, August 6, 2026

Winning Posters:
- The judging committee will select three winning posters, one from each category (medical student, resident physician, physician). The winners will be recognized in front of all delegates during the conference.
If your abstract is selected, you will be invited to display your poster at the conference on both meeting days. On Friday, September 18, 2026, during the afternoon break period, you will present your poster and answer questions.
The theme of this year's conference is Beyond One Identity: Women Physicians Shaping the Future.
We encourage poster topics related to this year's conference theme as well as research related to:
· Physician leadership
· Gender-inclusive health care
· Physician health and wellness
· Women, peace, and security
· Women's cardiovascular health
· Health equity
· Equity, diversity, and inclusion
· Women's sexual and reproductive health
· Women's health issues
Please note that you will be responsible for your own meeting registration and travel costs. Book your hotel accommodation at a preferred rate (Westin Downtown Edmonton) when registering for the conference.
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your work at a national level and to network with physicians from across the country in all career stages.
