On behalf of the International Society of Trace Elements in the Environment (ISTEE) and Conference Chair Dr. Daniel Alessi, we invite proposals for Special Sessions at ISTEE27, taking place June 15 to 18, 2027, at the Edmonton Convention Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

About the Call for Sessions and the Scientific Program

The ISTEE27 Scientific Program will be developed in a two stage process, and this call opens Stage 1:

• Stage 1: Call for Special Sessions invites proposals for special sessions on emerging, timely or high-interest themes in trace element research.  Successful proposals will be scheduled into the conference program as a full session with the individual(s) submitting the stage 1 proposal serving as session chair(s) during the conference.
• Stage 2: General Call for Abstracts opens once Stage 1 sessions are confirmed, inviting individual abstract submissions to the approved special sessions as well as the established general sessions.

Who Should Submit?

We welcome proposals from researchers, practitioners and community members working on trace elements in the environment. Proposers are encouraged to put forward two to three co-conveners representing a range of career stages, institutions and geographic regions.

What to Include in Your Proposal?

Each Special Session proposal should include:

• Session title
• A brief rationale or description (maximum 300 words) explaining the topic’s significance and timeliness
• Anticipated number of presentations or expected level of interest
• Ideas for a limited number of invited speakers (1-3) and a keynote speaker (1)

 

Review Process

Speical Sessions proposals will be reviewed by the ISTEE27 Program Committee against the standardized review rubric. Successful proposals will be confirmed and included in the Stage 2 General Call for Abstracts, where authors will be invited to submit abstracts directly to your session. Proposers of similar or overlapping sessions may be asked to merge their proposals.
