Dr. Diane Francoeur is an accomplished obstetrician-gynaecologist with more than 30 years of service. A dedicated advocate for women’s health, as well as their sexual and reproductive rights, and for strengthening the capacity of health care professionals, she continues to serve the community as an obstetrician-gynaecologist at CHU Sainte-Justine, mother and child hospital. From 2014 to 2021, she led the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ), becoming the first woman to serve as its President. Her leadership focused on optimizing specialist physician funding to deliver the best possible care to the population. During this period, she founded the IPAM Institute, which focused on the appropriateness of medical acts. Dr. Francoeur has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada since 2022 and was elected Honorary Treasurer of FIGO in 2025.
