Michal Stachura [pronounced: Michael StaKOUra] is an infection prevention and control nursing consultant for the Montreal Children's Hospital, a tertiary acute pediatric care facility at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Michal received his Masters of Nursing degree in 2013 from McGill University. He began his career as a clinical nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit where he practiced for 5 years before joining the hospital's IPAC team in 2018. He has co-authored several articles in scientific journals on topics of pediatric mental health nursing, organizational attraction of nursing graduates, outbreak management, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on respiratory infections in acute care settings. Michal is the recipient of APIC's Blue Ribbon award and IPAC Canada's Best First-Time Abstract award. Since 2022, Michal is the president of PCI Qc, IPAC Canada's regional chapter for the Province of Quebec. When not focusing on preventing healthcare-associated infections, Michal explores safety principles in aviation, drawing inspiration to enhance patient safety and care quality within the healthcare sector.
