Description

*Session will also be Live Streamed*

Using the expertise of the program epidemiologist and Infection Prevention & Control professionals, combined with the operational knowledge of LTC leadership, the group developed multiple data collection, analysis and training tools to create the framework for a robust Health-care associated (HAI) LTC surveillance plan. Taking a retrospective look at the past 1.5 years, looking at the details of a respiratory HAI surveillance pilot project experience, and how that project moved forward to launch phase one; Respiratory surveillance (April, 2024), phase two; urinary tract and skin infection surveillance launch (July 2024), and the final phase; gastrointestinal and multidrug resistant organism surveillance, (January 2025). The key principles of accurately applying case definitions, and ensuring data quality are important elements that will be shared in detail. Using the resulting robust data to identify and reduce risk, LTC HAI surveillance became significantly more integrated and evidence based.
