Dr. Gurpal Sandha graduated from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana in 1987. After a residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the US, he completed fellowships in Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy in Canada. Dr. Sandha joined the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta in 2002. His clinical career has focused on endoscopic oncology with expertise in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), pancreaticobiliary endoscopy (ERCP) including cholangioscopy. Dr. Sandha has published around 35 peer-reviewed articles with his research focusing on establishing EUS and cholangioscopy into clinical pathways. His research interests have recently shifted towards quality improvement and he is currently involved with multiple QI projects mainly relating to pancreaticobiliary disorders. Since joining the University of Alberta, Dr. Sandha has served as Program Director for Advanced Endoscopy Training from 2004-2013 and Director of Endoscopy from 2010-2020. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine.
