Christian Benson is the Senior Director of Real Estate at Canada Lands Company, where he leads Edmonton office in the transformation of surplus federal properties into vibrant, inclusive communities across Canada. Canada Lands Company (CLC), a federal Crown corporation, is deeply committed to addressing Canada's housing crisis by prioritizing affordable housing in its real estate developments. As part of its strategic plan, CLC aims to exceed municipal affordable housing requirements, and where none exist it sets a minimum target of 20% affordable units. Since 1995, CLC has enabled the creation of over 2,500 affordable units, with thousands more planned across its 23 active projects nationwide. Through programs such as the Federal Lands Initiative, CLC provides land and support for affordable housing developments.
