Gerald McDonald is a graduate of the Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Pharmacy and is currently an Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist for the Eastern Urban Zone of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS). He has been working as an infectious diseases pharmacist for over 25 years at the Health Sciences Center Pharmacy in St John’s, NL . He co-chairs the inpatient and outpatient provincial Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees and contributes AMU data to the Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program (CNISP). He has co-authored papers on Appropriateness of Antimicrobial prescribing in NL community hospitals, outpatient AMU in NL and Impact of a decision support tool on Antimicrobial Stewardship indicators.
