Catherine is a Qualitative Researcher also based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. She applies conversation-analytic methods to the study of healthcare interactions, focussing on how clinicians and patients navigate practical problems associated with discussing physical symptoms and emotional concerns. Her current research centres on finding strategies to improve the provision of self-care advice across different contexts (common infections, mental health conditions), modalities (in-person, telephone) and settings (general practice, urgent care).
