Rebecca is an Associate Professor based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. She has over 20 years’ experience of applying conversation-analytic methods to study healthcare interactions. In 2007, Rebecca co-founded the biennial International Meeting on Conversation Analysis and Clinical Encounters (CA&CE). She is an experienced teacher of conversation-analytic methods, and was an early pioneer of qualitative data sharing, setting up the One in a Million archive of video-recorded primary care consultations in 2016. Rebecca’s research has focused on addressing practical problems in primary care including prescribing, communication around medicines-related risks, and contingency planning. She is currently exploring the risk work undertaken by urgent primary care services.
