Lyla is the Director of Development Approvals and Inspections with the City of Edmonton. Lyla has been with the City since 2017. Before joining the City, she worked for both small and large municipalities, as well as regional government agencies, in Canada, the USA and the UK. She has a B.A. Regional and Urban Development (University of Saskatchewan) and a MBA in Urban Regeneration (University of Liverpool). She loves helping build a more equitable and responsive community and learning from diverse perspectives. Since joining the City she has worked on projects relating to cannabis legalization, Open Option Parking, automated permits, enhancing customer service opportunities, and using business licensing to support improved community outcomes. Her current work is centred around supporting housing delivery and exploring how AI is transforming work. In her fun time, she is K-Pop dancing (very poorly), reading, and planning the next travel adventure with her kids.
