Accessible Housing Calgary
Speaker Bio
As the CEO of Accessible Housing in Calgary my work centers around the provision and expansion of accessible and affordable housing for Alberta’s most vulnerable population of citizens with disabilities. Formerly in my role as CEO at Highbanks Society I had been deeply involved in interrupting the intergenerational cycle of trauma which leads to poverty, homelessness, and violence in the lives of pregnant and parenting women. I bring more than 30 years' experience in the charitable sector and a proven track record of non-profit excellence and am passionate about social justice and its subsequent lack of resonance in the lives of Canadians who are vulnerable. I have created a rich network of influential professionals and leaders in the housing, non-profit, political and policy, and family support sector across Canada and am an active member of several initiatives both Pan-Canadian and International, which seek to eliminate isolation in the lives of marginalized citizens. I am a highly sought after public speaker and spoke at the 2012 World Down Syndrome Day at the United Nations. I was a consultant on the Canadian Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In 2022 I received the Queens Platinum Jubilee Medal for outstanding contributions to the prevention of homelessness in Alberta. I am a tremendously seasoned professional Executive with significant experience in leading and inspiring change in Canada’s non-profit and social service sectors.
