Rhian M. Touyz, MBBCh, MScMed, PhD, is Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), Canada Research Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine, and Dr Phil Gold Chair in Medicine at McGill University, Montreal. An internationally renowned clinician-scientist, Dr Touyz’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, with particular interests in vascular signaling, redox biology, the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, cardiometabolic disease, vascular dementia, and translational cardiovascular medicine. She has published more than 690 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 161) and has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher in 2024 and 2025, placing her among the top 1% of scientists worldwide by citations. Dr Touyz is Editor-in-Chief of Hypertension and has played leading roles in major international scientific organizations, including President of the International Society of Hypertension, Chair of the American Heart Association Hypertension Council and President of the Hypertension Canada. She has received numerous honors, including the American Heart Association Hypertension Research Excellence Award. A committed mentor and advocate for equity in academia, she founded the International Society of Hypertension’s Women in Hypertension Research Program.
