Speaker Bio
Dr. Karen Bopp has worked in the disability sector in BC for over 29 years. She started her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and went on to complete a PhD in Special Education and an Interdisciplinary Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UBC.
Karen worked for the BC government in Children and Youth with Support Needs Policy and was the Director of Autism Information Services BC. From 2018 to 2023, Karen was seconded to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism at UBC where she created four continuing pro-d programs for professionals in medicine; dentistry; employment; and childcare to enable them to learn how to better support and include Autistic and Neurodivergent individuals of all ages.
Karen is currently the co-chair of the Autism Alliance of Canada and the Executive Advisor for Children and Youth with Disabilities for the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth of BC.
