Description

Unconscious bias refers to our attitudes and beliefs about others without us even being aware of them. We all have biases - the key is understanding them so that we don’t allow them to unfairly treat others. These subconscious preferences are based on facts or experiences from our past. They negatively affect our opinions of our patients and staff, our decision-making and dental practice culture. They also create opportunities for stereotyping, pre-judging, and treating patients and employees differently, without us even realizing why.

This session helps attendees understand their unconscious biases and how they negatively impact our workplaces. We will explore the most common forms of bias and provide tools to adjust our automatic patterns of thinking, so that we can improve our self-awareness, keep our biases in check, and improve our dental practice culture.
